Bed Sheets Or Quilt Fabric?
Have you seen all of the vintage sheet quilts that have been springing up across the quilting blogs lately? If not, then have a look at the ones at Pins & Thimbles, Cluck Cluck Sew and Crazy Mom Quilts. I'm sure that making quilts from old sheets goes against the grain of a lot of quilters, but I am intrigued by the idea. I like the whole reclaim, reuse and repurpose concept and plus, some of these old sheets are just plain pretty! Yesterday I was dropping a few things off at the local thrift shop and while I was there I noticed a display of sheets, so I thought I would have a look. What was I thinking? I walked out of the store with a bag full of sheets. It's not like I needed the fabric or another project, but I guess this means that I'm going to have to make a vintage sheet quilt at some point. Do you think I should put them in with my fabric stash or should I hide them in the linen closet?

WOW either place they will be beautiful...I need to check on this *Bed Sheet Quilt* concept :>)!! Yep I need another project on my list! Cool, thanks for sharing!
I hadn't seen these but cute idea. I have some sheets here I could probably use! Another thing to watch out for at sales and goodwills!
They just don't make sheets that pretty anymore. I think you got a great deal and you can store them with your quilt fabric. I think I need to hit my thrift store.
i say go for it!
I think the sheets of yesteryear are much prettier and much softer than what we have to buy now. Can't wait to see how you quilt them! Should be fun!
I use 100 % cotton sheets from the thrift stores all the time for backing .I also hand quilt and don't have any problems .Check out the table cloths and curtain sections also ,my favorite is duvets .
ha, ha Susan I have been doing the very same thing. I would really like to make a quilt from the sheets, but my daughter keeps taking them and putting them on her bed ;-)
I love the reuse part and think they'd make many awesome picnic quilts!
Put them in with your fabric stash. I would love to use some old sheets on the backs of quilts. Our thrift stores here are kind of lousy for those things. I like the old sheet idea.
