Little Cowboy Feet

I finally finished the lil' cowboy's artwork wall hangings! The one with the blue border will be hung in my sewing room with the the others in the series. The one with the gold borders is on its way to the lil' cowboy's house in North Carolina...I just wish I was the one delivering it and not the mailman!

Wet Paint And Little Feet

Look what I convinced the lil' cowboy's mommy and daddy to let me do! It wasn't that hard...all I had to do was promise to make them a little artwork wall hanging too. It was an interesting process that just took a little fabric paint, some muslin, three adults and one squirmy baby. I think we all all had blue paint on us before we were done, but we ended up with two sets of nice baby foot prints to use for the wall hangings. We found this perfect cowboy boot fabric at Needles Quilt Shop to use for the border, so now I just need to get stitching!

Another Work Of Art!

I felt like Miss Three was being left out of the artwork wall hanging series, so the other day I ironed some white fabric to a piece of freezer paper and handed our little toddler a box of permanent markers. (Yep, I'm one brave grandmama!) This wall hanging is the resulting masterpiece and it is now hanging in my sewing room with the other two. I guess it will be a while before I can finish out the series unless I can convince my daughters-in-law to let me paint the babies feet with fabric paint...

Quilted Artwork

I finally finished the wall hanging that I made from Miss One's artwork. I hand quilted it by following the swirl pattern in the border print and even though it doesn't show very well in the photo...I didn't have any trouble going back to stitching small even stitches.

Prairie Stitches

Over the weekend I finished the wall hanging that I made from the block that Miss Two made for me for Christmas. I tried to make my quilt stitches big and wonky to keep with the primitive feel of the wall hanging, but that was harder than I thought it would be! Back when I first started hand quilting I didn't have any trouble making big prairie stitches, but after a few years of practicing to get small even stitches it was really hard to go back to making the big uneven ones. I sure hope I don't have any trouble going back to making the small even stitches on Miss One's wall hanging!

Borders Added

I finally decided on borders for the blocks that Miss One and Miss Two made for me for Christmas. I found the perfect match for the blue in Miss One's block with a Jo Morton print. I added a little peeky border and it was all it needed. For Miss Two's block I added a narrow black border followed by a wonky piano key border. I think I will probably bind it in the same black once it is quilted.
Next week we are finally going to make the trip to North Carolina to meet our little cowboy in person and my plan is to hand quilt these little wall hangings while we are there...that is if I can put the baby down long enough to pick up a needle!

Border Ideas?

My two oldest granddaughters each gave me a wonderful quilt block printed with their original artwork for Christmas. Two blocks aren't quite enough to make a quilt, so I think I will to make each into a little wall hanging to display in my sewing room. The blocks are 8 1/4 x 6 1/4 and I would like to add some kind of pieced borders to dress them up a bit, but not anything so busy that it will distract from the artwork. Does anyone have border suggestions for these two beautiful blocks?
