Another UFO FINISHED!
Here is my Finish 6 Challenge quilt for April...all finished! I started this quilt a little over a year ago, so it isn't quite as old as some of my other UFO's, but it still qualified as a UFO in my book. Now that is is quilted and bound I can move it over to the finished pile, which (I am proud to say) is now bigger than the UFO pile!

A Scrappy Trip
Here is my MLQG Finish 6 Challenge quilt all finished and ready for show and tell at tonight's guild meeting! The pattern is Bonnie Hunter's Scrappy Trip Around The World and I think I started this quilt shortly after she first posted the pattern on her website in 2005! Again, this UFO was a finished top just waiting with backing and binding to be quilted and once I again I am asking myself why it took me so long to finish it because I love it!

Tumbling Along
Here is my MLQG Finish 6 Challenge quilt all finished and ready for show and tell at tonight's guild meeting!Once again, I really don't know why I never quilted this top. I even had a backing all pieced and ready to go with it and it really didn't take long to quilt it once I got it loaded on the frame. I think if there's a lesson to be learned from this challenge it is to follow through and finish each and every quilt whether it has a home to go to or not! There's really no good reason at all to have a basket full of quilt tops taking up space in the sewing room!

How Did The Giraffes Get In The Flower Garden?
Here is my Finish 6 Challenge quilt for January...all finished! It's quite the quilt, isn't it? I rescued this top from the thrift store, so I can't take credit for the pattern or design on this one. You can probably guess why this quilt was moved to the bottom of the "to quilt" list. I mean, honestly, what is up with that crazy giraffe block in the middle of all those flowery calico pints? As I was quilting I pondered on that question. Just what was the maker thinking? Did she have a sense of humor? Was she out of calico? Was she out of her mind? I don't know, but as I was quilting, this quilt began to grow on me and now that it's done (I am almost afraid to admit this) I like it! Wednesday, November 21, 2012
5 Years In The Making!
Last month our guild president issued a Finish 6 challenge. We were asked to make a numbered list of six UFO's. A number will be drawn at
the guild meeting and for the next month you are to finish the project
with the corresponding number. The number drawn last month was #3 and here it is my #3 UFO ALL FINISHED! Don't ask me why it took 5 years to complete this little crib quilt, I really don't know the answer, but you can see evidence that I have actually tried working on it over the years by clicking HERE. I guess what I needed was for someone to hold me accountable...thanks goes to the president of the Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild for that! (She didn't mention public ridicule for not finishing when she issued the challenge, but I'm not willing to take the chance!)

Finish 6 Challenge
This month begins a new challenge for the members of the Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild...Finish 6. Those who want to participate are asked to make a numbered list of six UFO's. A number will be drawn at the guild meeting and for the next month you are to finish the project with the corresponding number. It's no secret that I am not really a quilter, I am a piecer, so I knew it wouldn't be hard for me to find six quilts that needed to be finished. (Actually, I have enough quilts to do this challenge twice, but I don't want to be that challenged...I'll save those for the next guild UFO challenge!)
My Finish 6 Challenge List
1. Purple Jelly Roll Quilt
2. Tumbler Quilt
3. Thangles Quilt
4. Bonnie Hunter Quilt
5. Calico Blocks Quilt
6. Batik D9P Quilt
