Things I learned while quilting this quilt:
I do not like solid backing fabrics! Can you say "boring"?
Peeky borders add a nice touch to a quilt, but they are not easy to quilt around! I stitched my hopping foot into the flange not once, not twice, but three times on this quilt!
Following a stencil line is not nearly as easy as some people make it look!
A contrasting thread color may not be the best choice when trying a new quilting design. Every stutter and hesitation is magnified with contrasting thread!
Practice, practice, practice!
This quilt will be donated to Project Linus and I know it will be loved...even with all of its imperfections!

All good points to remember.
Susan~
What would we do without all our "practice " pieces?
I can honestly say that I learn something with EVERY quilt I quilt~ and I never make the same mistake twice...and I have made some d00zies!!!
E.
It looks fab to me and I am confident it will be loved and no flaws will be seen. Great choice of colors Susan.
Thanks for the infor, you quilt looks great!
Each new quilt brings a new experience! Just finished a quilt for Relay for Life. It was a fun one to do especially since I know it is going for a good cause.
You and I are at about the same place with our machine quilting learning curve. Thanks for the tip on the solid back, I'll stay away from them. With regards to templates I've found I have to practice them just as much as I do meandering. One good thing with them, once you get rid of the markings your "off" areas tend to disappear and they get even less noticeable after you wash the whole quilt (thank goodness, lol).
I think your quilt is very bright and cheerful. No one will notice any little bobbles, but you. I delivered my blankets to DCS today. They were very appreciative. Thanks for your inspiration.
Having hand quilted all of my projects for years I'm not a experienced freemotion quilter. I think your quilting looks fine and the quilt will be loved by the recipient.
lol you have it all right! especially the matching thread. I think you are doing great! Are you using a panto or stenciling right on the quilt top?
It looks great from this view!!!
Great tips! I agree with the prior poster that your quilt looks wonderful to me!
How did you mark the stencil on your quilt?
your quilting looks great, remember nobody but you knows what the stencil, panto or quilt pattern looks like! and since every quilt is different there will always be something new to learn (and goof up on!) :)
