Another Finish
Here's another finish for CONCERN, our local foster care program. What little girl wouldn't be happy with this BRIGHT pink, purple and aqua quilt?

Quiltmaker Shuffle
Forget that crazy zumba stuff...this is a dancercise that I could actually do!

Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah
I'll admit that my idea to make my favorite colors block into a zip bag wasn't all that creative, but it sure was practical! This bag is the perfect size to hold all of my travel sewing supplies!

Mug Rugs Or Desk Art?
Our two youngest granddaughters spent a couple of days with us this week and being that their mommy's birthday is coming up, we thought that it would be fun to make gifts for her. I gave the girls some plain white fabric backed with freezer paper and had them draw pictures on it with fabric markers. All it took after that was a quick heat set with the iron, a little backing, batting and easy grid quilting. I just don't know if we should call them mug rugs or desk art!

Hot Peppers And Tea?
Who doesn't love mug rugs? I made this one for a pepper loving friend who has a birthday coming up. Maybe it will help spice up her morning tea!

Another Finish
This I-Spy Disappearing 9-Patch was put together by the Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild's charity quilting group. I quilted it with a simple meander and just finished sewing the binding on. I love this quilt! It's so much fun to look at...you'll see fish, cartoon characters, bugs, flames, and even bacon and eggs! Some young man going into foster care will have a good time exploring this quilt.

Going In Circles
Here is my Going in Circles wall hanging that I started in the workshop with Gyleen X. Fitzgerald last month all finished! The closet in my sewing room is full of unfinished projects from past workshops that will probably never be completed, so the fact that this one is finished less than a month after the workshop is testament to what a great workshop this was!

Mama Said There Would Be Days Like This
Now I remember why I like quilting on a frame so much...you don't have to worry about the backing folding back on itself and getting caught up in the quilting! #?darn*! Mama said there would be days like this...time to break out the seam ripper.

Laser Lines
I was grumbling about trying to cut a straight line while cutting some batting the other evening and my husband suggested using his laser level to mark the fabric. Let me tell you, once in awhile the old boy comes up with a good idea and this one was one of his best! This little gadget shot a nice straight beam of light, perfect for cutting batting. This particular laser level is a Black & Decker 10' Beams and Chalklines Line Generator and sells at Lowes for under $15, but there are lots of models available at your favorite hardware store. Any laser line would be a great investment for your sewing room!

Favorite Colors
The Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild recently formed a Modern Quilt Group. At our first meeting we did a color study and put together a 25 patch block that contained the colors that we use most in our quilts. The discussion that followed was quite interesting. We talked about what colors we liked, what colors we didn't use and why, and what colors we should try to use more often. I learned quite a bit about myself and my friends too! At the end of the meeting we were discussing what we should do with our blocks and this month's assignment was born...make something from your block! Add to it, take away from it, whatever it takes to turn it into something usable. Now to see if I can get a little more creative than simply turning my block into a potholder.
