Did You Work On Your UFO This Week?

As you can see by the photo, my Thangles blocks are still on the UFO wall, but wait...what are the blocks next to it? You guessed it, another UFO and these matchstick blocks are even older than the Thangles blocks! I'm trying to decide how I want to finish the Thangles blocks, so I thought I would work on something different while I'm waiting for inspiration.

Did You Work On Your UFO This Week?

I think I may have made up for last week's lack of UFO progress. Not only did I get the tumbler top and backing pieced this week, but I also got one of the Thangles tops put together!

Did You Work On Your UFO This Week?

It wasn't easy, especially with so many of you telling me that I deserved to start a new project, (What happened to "get it done or else"?) but I did it! I avoided the temptation of starting a new project with the patterns that I brought home from the quilt show and put the second thangles top together instead! I'm glad that I didn't listen, because it feels great to finally have this top together!

UFO's, WIP's & PIG's

UFO's (UnFinished Objects), WIP's (Work In Progress) and PIG's (Projects In Grocery Sacks)...we all have them! Some of us have more than others though and I'm the first one to admit that mine are out of control! For example, see the bag of Thangles Buck A Block's on the left? They are from 2007! Anya and I decided to make Christmas quilts using those blocks. Her quilt has been finished, gifted and it is probably half way to being worn out by now. I have a whopping 5 blocks finished! Needless to say, it's time for me to do something about all these unfinished projects that are taking up space in my closet. Each week I am going to set aside some time (even if it's just a few minutes) to work on one of my UFO projects and then on Friday's I will post my progress (big, small or none at all). Accountability can be a great motivator! If you have UFO's that you would like to finish, you are welcome to join me in my efforts...I'd love the company!

Finish 6 Challenge

This month begins a new challenge for the members of the Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild...Finish 6.  Those who want to participate are asked to make a numbered list of six UFO's.  A number will be drawn at the guild meeting and for the next month you are to finish the project with the corresponding number.  It's no secret that I am not really a quilter, I am a piecer, so I knew it wouldn't be hard for me to find six quilts that needed to be finished. (Actually, I have enough quilts to do this challenge twice, but I don't want to be that challenged...I'll save those for the next guild UFO challenge!)

My Finish 6 Challenge List

1. Purple Jelly Roll Quilt
2. Tumbler Quilt
3. Thangles Quilt
4. Bonnie Hunter Quilt
5. Calico Blocks Quilt
6. Batik D9P Quilt

Did You Work On Your UFO This Week?

I don't have a lot of UFO progress to report, but at least there has been progress and block 6 is now complete! While I was working on this block I was trying to remember why I packed this project away to begin with and couldn't think of a single reason. I really do like the blocks and the Thangles are an easy way to quickly make a lot of perfect half square triangles. I'm actually looking forward to making the next block. Maybe it won't take me as long to finish this UFO as I thought it would!

Did You Work On Your UFO This Week?

As I said yesterday, the weather has been much too nice to be inside sewing, but that doesn't mean that I have totally ignored my UFO! While I was out earlier this week I stopped at one of my favorite quilt shops and found these fabrics on sale for $3.00 a yard! I think they will make the perfect sashing and border fabrics for the last of my Thangles blocks. More seasonable weather is expected to return next week, so I hope to be able to show lots of progress on this quilt next Friday!

Did You Work On Your UFO This Week?

When I started working on this UFO project I said that I would post my progress on Friday's no matter how much progress there was or even if there wasn't any progress at all. This is one of those weeks when I don't have very much progress to report. I do have the Thangles for my next block pinned and ready to sew, so at least that's something!
