Fold Down Fingerless Mitts
I really like how my new Fold Down Fingerless Mitts are knitting up, but with temperatures way below average this week, I'm starting to think that I should have been working on real mittens or gloves!

Workshop Weekend!
It was a cold and snowy weekend, but that didn't keep me from attending our guild's winter workshop! What fun we all had and we came away with some great tips on free motion quilting and an easy quilt block pattern. The pattern is Anita's Arrowhead and although it looks like it might be complicated, it is super simple! I can hardly wait to finish the rest of the blocks and get them put together, so I can put some of the quilting tips to use!

Kitty Quilting
The kitty quilt is on the frame and the quilting has begun! A quick and easy meander will be just right for this quilt!

Ready To Wear!
Here is my Gallatin Scarf all finished, blocked and ready to wear. I absolutely love how this scarf turned out! It's not quite a scarf, but not really a shawl either. It's the perfect size to wear many different ways! The pattern is easy to memorize, yet the scarf once it's finished looks like it was quite complicated. It's just a great all around scarf. Kriskafter has several other free scarf patterns on her blog...I may just have to knit my way through them all!

Many Hands, Many Cats!
A very good friend of mine, Debbi, has a dear friend who was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I know the helpless feeling that you get when a friend receives such a diagnosis all too well. Even though I don't know Debbi's friend, I knew that I had to make a quilt for Debbi to give to her. Debbi's friend breeds and shows Siberian cats which means a cat quilt is definitely in order. I am hoping to get this quilt done quickly, so once I decided on a block, I put out a call for help from my friends. I didn't even have to beg...everyone I asked pitched in and after two short days I have more than enough blocks for the quilt!

Salt Air
This quilt started out back in October with a single charm pack of Salt Air from Moda and the Tiny Bits pattern from the book, Seamingly Scrappy. The whole time I've been working on it I had thoughts of warm summer breezes and kept hoping that it would bring a mild winter to us here in Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, my plan didn't work, but I did end up with a nice summery quilt to help keep me warm for the next few months!

Scarf Weather
It has definitely been a winter for scarves! You can't go out without freezing unless you have a scarf on and ruffle scarves, don't cut it when it's below zero! The pattern that I'm using for my latest scarf is the Gallatin Scarf and I'm making it with some of my hand dyed koolaid wool yarn. It's a very quick knit, so I should have it done in time to get a lot of use out of it before winter is over.

What A Surprise!
Last month I sent a quilt to Gene Black - Alabama Artist for his Quilt Angels project. I never expected anything in return, but right before Christmas I got an email from Gene saying that I had won a jelly roll from Sew Fun Quilts! What a surprise! I didn't realize that there was a giveaway that went along with donating a quilt. Judy at Sew Fun Quilts has some beautiful die cut jelly rolls to choose from, but as soon as I saw the red and white, I knew I had to have it! I gave away a red white and black quilt to charity and I have always missed that quilt. I think it's time to make another, but don't be surprised if this one ends up going to charity too!

Ruffles And Sequins
Have you seen the new Sashay Sequins ruffle yarn? This skein caught my eye while Christmas shopping because it matched the outfit that I had picked out for Miss Two perfectly. It has just the right amount of bling without being over-the-top and because it is ruffle yarn it was a quick knit! I had it finished in plenty of time to wrap up for Christmas!

Put A Flower On Top!
I knitted this simple rolled brim hat for our youngest granddaughter, but it needed something to dress it up a bit. Because her new snowsuit is bright pink, I thought a bright pink flower right on top would be just about perfect. Much better (and easier) than a pom-pom! The free pattern for this double crocheted flower can be found at Treasures For Tots.
