What pretty colors ... thanks for the giveaway!

I don't have any old potholders but I have a trivet that hung on the kitchen wall when I grew up.

Thanks for the giveaway! I have lots of potholders that are from my first apartment...twenty years ago. Ouch!

My oldest one is one my great-grandma made in a really awesome 60s print with daisies on it. It's my favorite.

The oldest hot pad in my kitchen is one of those oven mitts in the shape of a pig. My mother gave it to me 24 years ago as a gag gift. I was in Virginia in college for pre-veterinary classes and had to go through a round of dealing with pigs. They scared me to death and every year after that my mom would give me something with pigs on it.
Thanks for the chance to win some pretty ones.

Mine are that old as I tend to burn them to much and replace

Oh boy the oldest. I just tossed it when I redid my kitchen....I think I had it 20 years. I know how could I toss it. Well it was ratty. Besides I love those two and hope I win.

The oldest pot holder in my kitchen actually hangs on my wall. It's at least 55-60 years old!!! It was my grandmothers and it's adorable! A little orange owl that I swear is too thin to actually hold anything warm, let alone hot! So now he hangs in my sunny yellow kitchen to remind me of my dear departed grandma!

The oldest pot holder I have belongs to my mother-in-laws aunts which were all handmade by them.

My oldest ones are from when I got married, 11 years ago.

I don't know if they are the oldest per se, but I have some that my great grandmother crocheted while she was in the nursing home. My mother gave them to us shortly after we got married (6 years ago yesterday!). G didn't think they were that great until I told him that she crocheted them BLIND. I'd say that's impressive.

Oh God I just realize my oldest pot holder is from when I was a teen. We hardly use it because is so small but is still on the drawer with the others.

My potholders really should be tossed since they are old and from a "mart" store and not at all attractive.

Valerie said...

None of my pot holders are very noteworthy but I have a trivet that my mother in law gave me, it was my husbands favourite when he was a toddler in Germany in the late 60s!

I have a chili pepper shaped one that is almost 20 years old.

Sarita said...

I have a pot holder that hasn't spent very much time in my kitchen, but that I nicked from my mother's goodwill bag last month. It was in my childhood kitchen for as long as I can remember (it could possibly even be older than I am), and even thought it's kind of ratty I really wanted it in my kitchen. :)

Thanks for the opportunity to win some nice new pot holders to make memories with! :)

I have been married 12 years and I don't know if I have any pot holders from when I got married. I would say around 4 years ago when I started to redo my kitchen that I got new ones!

Rose said...

The oldest potholder I have in my house is a crocheted one that looks like a flower. I got it from my Grandfather's belongings when he passed away over 30 years ago. I never knew my grandmother (she died before I was born) and I am not sure if she made it or not. I like to think she did and I treasure it either way.

I still have a set of hot pads that I remember my mom using when I was a little kid (I'm 44). They are stained beyond recognition, burnt in places, have holes where stuffing comes out, and have a greasy film on them that no amount of washing can get rid of. They still reside in my kitchen drawer...I don't have the heart to get rid of them, but they are unusable. I would love to win this great giveaway because I REALLY need new ones, and I love the colors. Thanks for the opportunity!

Hello, I'd love to win your giveaway. Let's see the oldest potholder in my kitchen is one my grandmother made for me about 20 years ago - but it is more for decoration, I don't use it for its intended purpose. I like fresh, clean potholders and hot mitts so I'm always on the lookout for new ones. Thanks for the chance to win. Linda

As for the oldest potholder, I'd probably say just a few years. We're not the cleanest of folks, so we go through and loose many of things. No heirlooms here.

VickiT said...

Oh my gosh ~ Those are just BEAUTIFUL! And using my favorite color too. *drool*

Let's see ~ my oldest potholder? I'm embarrassed to say that I have four potholders/hot pads. All of them were from my Mom's kitchen after she died and Dad was moving from the house I grew up in. When did she get them? I'm pretty sure they were bought when they bought that house back in 1961. LOL They are SO thin and washing them doesn't even clean them anymore. They are just SO gross. I did however, replace the hot pads. LOL I keep saying I really need to make new potholders/hot pads but until I finally decide exactly how I want to remodel my kitchen I'm not going to do it. The color schemes I'm considering are completely different.

Thank you for the chance to win these. I don't care what color I decide to make my kitchen, I would totally keep these if I am lucky enough to win. I love purple so much that I've told my husband anything purple is MINE. HA My Grandma used to knit but never taught me before she died so I can't make any like those you have. Those are the best type to have too.

Daisy said...

I think one of mine is atleast 20+ years old. My husband and I are coming up on our 16th anniversary and I know I had them before I ever met him. Sometimes it is just so hard to let go of something that was handmade and a gift. Thanks for the chance to win. Purple is my favorite color so it would be neat to have them. Daisy

It's not actually in my kitchen at the moment, but my oldest potholder is an adorable Santa Bear potholder from about 1985. It's not in too bad of shape for its age since it spends most of the year in the Xmas decorations box.
