Doughnut Muffins

These muffins were so good that they honestly disappeared before I could take a photo!  I think I will double the recipe the next time I make them!

Doughnut Muffins

1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted
3/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup flour

Topping

1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 6 muffin cups or line cups with paper muffin liners. In a large bowl, mix 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup butter and nutmeg.  Stir in the milk, then mix in the baking powder and flour until just combined.  Fill the prepared muffin cups about half full. Bake in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes. While muffins are baking, combine 1/4 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Remove muffins from oven and muffin pan. Immediately, dip the tops of the muffins into the melted butter, then into the cinnamon and sugar mixture. Repeat with each muffin, until all muffin tops are covered. Serve warm.

If these are any bit like those addictive cookies, they'll be fantastic! Thanks for posting the recipe. I've got it bookmarked!

Oh, those *do* sound good. I think I too will double the recipe and bake them next Saturday--or the day before Thanksgiving. Thanks!

I want you to know I have those Donut Muffins in the oven as we speak! It sounded so good that I jumped right up and began making them!!! My hubby is leaving town for a few days, so I'll send him off in the morning with some, and keep the rest for me and my BFF over coffee!! Thanks so much!
