The Forgetting

Watching this lets the tears roll on this Monday morning. My mother had a massive stroke 10 years ago but over time she has gained back a bit of her memory. This precious lady in the video. Oh how my heart grieves. Somehow I just want to scream "this is not fair." And yet it is so much more than "not fair." Love to all who love her and walk this path. ((hugs))

My hope is that they will find some way to halt this disease in my lifetime, there is hope of that. Meanwhile, I'm losing my mother, piece by piece. I'm scared for myself and my siblings.

Okay, so I've been in tears all morning anyway, and now I watch this video that could have featured my mother and my mother-in-law. So, now I'm in a full-fledged crying mode. I'm glad you posted this, though. Thanks. We do HAVE to do something to stop this dreadful disease.

It has been 2 years since my mother passed from this awfull disease. My heart still breaks for her. A wonderful, quiet, intelligent and very independent woman-she was aware for such a long time that something was wrong. I still cry when I remember the look of fear that would at times cross her face. We NEED to find a cure, or a prevention.

Not sure if I can say this, but I received a lot of help and info from the forum at Alz.org.

Susan, I love you for posting this; thank you. My heart goes out to you for your situation because I am living it as well, and I know what you are going through.

Those of us who are or have been the caregivers suffer as well. often, we are the ones who take the brunt of their anger and confusion. Trying to remind ourselves this si NOT the person we know but the disease talking is very difficult at times. Caregivers MUST take care of themselves and regroup every so often in order to keep up the fight. Nancy Reagan called it the Long Goodbye which is so very true. This video brings floods of memories because it is so much more than just forgetting who people are...it's the change in personality that can be the most heartbreaking.
Blessings
