Bear Pause

I had a few requests to elaborate on yesterday's Silent Sunday post, so as long as I didn't do much stitching over the weekend, I thought now would be a good time to explain the picture and show a new bear photo too.  Our favorite summer pastime is riding on the back roads of Pennsylvania and upstate New York in our Jeep.  We often see various kinds of wildlife while on these road trips and it's always a highlight for me when we see a bear.  Bears usually disappear into the brush before I can get my hand on the camera, but I've been lucky this summer and have been able to get a few photos.  On occasion, a black bear will wander through our yard or visit our bird feeders, but these were all seen on our travels.  The two bears in yesterday's photo were seen near Cedar Run, PA on July 4th.  We saw the bear in the above photo along Rt. 6 just outside of Galeton, PA one evening last week.  Don't worry, I photographed these bears from the safety of our canvas topped Jeep and I don't chase after them into the woods, so no worries about me being mauled by a camera shy black bear!

Glad to hear you took these from the safety of your car. My husband and I like to vacation places we can hike and I always fear that we'll run into a bear. My DH promises that he'll run slower than me if we do!

Thank you Susan for explaining... so my eyes were seeing the bear, not one but two, awesome! I have often said I wish I could see a real black bear, they seem to raid our bird feeders in the middle of the night...so I don't have the chance to spot one. I would love to see it, but only from the safety of inside my house or vehicle. Great job with the pictures...stay safe!

Thanks for explaining your bear sightings! Sounds like you have to be in the right place at the right time to get photos. We visited Yellowstone park 3 years ago now and were disappointed to see not even one bear :(

I love to see the bears too. Many friends have them frequent their yards and I've been fortunate to see one in my in-laws yard. What a special treat.

Smiles,
Kelly

We've been seeing quite a few black bear as well. Don't mind those...it's the grizzlies that I'm fine without ever seeing ;-)
