Beam N Read Blog Hop

Welcome to day four of IHAN's Beam N Read Blog Hop!
I want to thank Kelly from I Have A Notion and the great folks at ASF Lightware Solutions for inviting me to participate in this blog hop.  Quite honestly, I probably wouldn't have given this light a second glance if it hadn't been sent to me for a review.  I have a nice bright light next to my chair where I do most of my handwork, so why would I need to strap a light around my neck?  It didn't take me long to figure out that this little light is invaluable for anyone who does any kind of handwork!  The extra bright light directed towards your stitching (without obstructing your view) makes all the difference in the world while stitching, especially when there isn't any natural light available.  The Beam N Read is lightweight and has a comfortable, easy to adjust neck strap.   It only took a few minutes of use and I was hopelessly hooked on my Beam N Read!

One of the handy attachments that comes with the Beam N Read LED6 is a detachable magnifier for times when your bifocals or reading glasses just aren't enough...like when threading a needle.  Don't you just hate it when you can't get the thread to go through that tiny needle eye?!  Sometimes it isn't lack of vision that makes it difficult to thread that needle.  Did you know that a needle has a right and wrong side?  You can't see it by looking, but if you're having a hard time threading the needle try turning it around and threading it through the other side.  Works for me every time!

Would you like a Beam N Read LED6 Hands Free Light of your very own? Here's your chance to win one!  Just leave a comment telling me what hand project you would like to shine a little extra light on.  Simple as that!  I'll draw a winner on Saturday, July 2 by Random Number Generator.  The winner will be notified by email, so if you are a no-reply blogger make sure that you leave your e-mail address with your comment.

Here's The Fine Print...
The drawing is open to the everyone on the globe and to make this possible, the winners will be responsible for the shipping costs of their light to the address of their choice (lights are being shipped from OH, USA). The winner will be able to choose the delivery service (UPS, FedEx, USPS).

Don't forget to stop by Bejeweled Quilts By Barb and read her review of the Beam N Read Light and sign up for her giveaway as well!

Comments are now closed!
Congratulations to the winner, Kathy MacKie!

This product looks great! I'd love to finally finish up a lap quilt I've been working on for ages...the hand quilting always seems to get pushed aside for other things! I'm sure the Beam and Read Light would be a super help for those evenings when your eyes get a little tired! Thanks for the chance!

Hi Susan! I am working on an embroidery piece now (off and on, ok more off than on) but I'm constantly moving around the room trying to get better light. Thanks for the chance and a great review!

I need this light badly. Yesterday I made a big booboo when sewing strips together. Better light would have helped but now I have a creative piece that will work somewhere.

I just started cross stitching a Christmas stocking for my newest grandchild and the stitches are tiny. Needless to say, I could definitely use the Beam and Read light. Especially since we are traveling now and the lighting in our camper is the best. It looks like a great solution!

Would like to win this - I do embroidery of all kinds and am trying to teaching myself how to hand piece quilts. This would sure help. Thanks for your neat blog.

I'd really do need a Beam and Read Light to help when I'm doing counted cross stitch. I think I should get my best friend one, too! She never seems to have enough light :)

This light would be wonderful when I'm smocking in the evening. My lamp just doesn't illuminate well enough for me to do this work without eye strain.

Thank you!

I would love to have one for my cross stitch. I started up again and making patterns, but I can't see the holes, lol. So, I definitely would use it for that and stitcheries and reading in bed and ........

I would love to use this when I hand stitch bindings. When I watch TV with my husband and son in the "man cave" there isn't sufficient light for me to stitch and I hate to have idle hands while in front of the TV. Sounds like this light is the answer! Thanks for the chance to win.

LizA. said...

I definitely need one of these for camping. I neve have enough light to sew by when we camp in our VW bus.

Barbara said...

I would love a Beam N Read to use when I'm doing applique. I find I like it bright so that I can really see my stitching. Thank you for the chance to win a Beam N Read.

I would love to use that little light on a cross stitch Christmas stocking I am working on.

Deborah in Atlanta said...

My 58 year old eyes could definitely benefit from the Beam N Read light. I'm not fortunate enough to have good lighting in my sewing room, so not only would it be helpful while sewing at the machine, but also while I'm doing that tedious needlework. Embroidery and cross stitch is on the menu. These 58 year old eyes HATE doing that!

Cori Lewis said...

what wouldn't I use it for.... Hexies, hand quilting, binding, reading. And letting my husband use it so he can read after I have gone to bed

Kathy MacKie said...

Yes, this would light up my life and my needlework project. I am doing a cross stitch project right now by Lizzie Kate.

I could use the Beam and Read a million ways. My projects include hand embroidery, applique, quilting, and knitting not to mention reading, all usually done at night. Thanks

Deb said...

I'd use this for embroidery - which I like to do in the evenings, but don't have a nice light next to my favorite spot to stitch.

Thanks for the chance to win!

I could really use some more light for my current applique project--Roseville Album. Hard to see where my stitches are going with my old eys! It looks like a great light!

Anonymous said...

If I won one of those great lights I would use it to finish hand piecing my Jinny Beyer "Columbia" quilt. I had to stop a few years ago because I needed more light to work in the evening, and the ones that I have just don't shine on the project itself where I need it. I have missed being able to sew in the evenings.

Jeanne said...

I would love to win this light. I would use it on the large king size quilt top I am going to hand quilt. Working on it at night after

I just love this light. It looks just awesome.

I have a group of baby things I'll be making very soon for our 2nd grandchild who will arrive in early Sept we've been told. A few of the projects have hand stitching to close things up and with my bifocals not being quite as good as they should be I really do have some problems with that. I know this light would really help.

Anonymous said...

I have several hand projects going on right now that the Beam and Read could definitely shine on...some vintage dresden plates, birdie stitchery...

Quilts And Pieces said...

I had the same thought as you! But as I read through everyones reviews I"ve come to decide I NEED this! #1 help is with my hand quilting I"m doing. I"m working on a full size quilt right now and I never can get the light to light up the right area without shadows. And the other problem is I get way too hot with that light shining down on me. Boy would this help that!

stitchinpenny said...

I woulduse this to help me sew bindings on. The more light the better when I try to make tiny or invisible stitches.

DebrafromMD said...

I'm working on a Hawaiian applique wall hanging that I take with me when I travel. I could use this light to supplement the poor lighting in hotel rooms.

Wow - this Beam and Read is sounding better and better with each review. Would love to win one to use when I bead. Always need more light and a mag. glass when beading with Delica beads.

I really need all the help I can get to get on with my Dear Jane quilt. I usually sew it at night and my eyes get quite tired by then. By the way, did you find Barb's light?

Brita said...

The only hand sewing project I do is sewing on buttons, I'm still leery that my machine needle will hit the button. But I need the light to shine it on my sewing machine because the light on the machine just isn't bright enough!

Patricia Lessell said...

This could become my favorite product ever. I really want one of these one way or another. I need this because I'm getting older and my eyesight isn't what it was and the combination of the great light and the magnifier is JUST what I want and NEED.

It would be so helpful to use this beam-n-sew (my name for the useful gadget) to handsew my hexies, embroidery, and handquilting when the light seems dim. Thanks!

I would use a Beam N Read today for a quilt binding that I am in the middle of. By next week it could be the crochet blanket I started for the new grandbaby. Then there are the dozen old ( 1979-1985) quilt magazines I got at the second hand store that I am reading before bed.--the list is endless.

I'd love to win a Beam n Read light to help me out with unsewing. You know, sewing with Jack the Ripper...

Unreal! I had no idea that a needle had a "right" and a "wrong" side....I gotta try that next time! I would love to shine some light on my hand quilting - that would be a lot easier than trying to drag a lamp over closer to my chair! LOL

As unglamerous as it's sounds, I'd have to say this would help me get my husband's pants hemmed.
