10 Minutes A Day
I've accepted Pat Sloan's challenge and have been making time to sew for at least 10 minutes a day on my Shoo-fly blocks. One of Pat's suggestions for finding extra sewing time was to sew while dinner was cooking. The first day I got 5 blocks made, because 10 minutes turned into half an hour, and then I had to spend 45 minutes scrubbing burned pork BBQ off of the bottom of one of my good stainless steel pots, while waiting for the pizza delivery guy. Lessons learned...set the timer or just skip cooking and order out, but sewing at least 10 minutes a day does make a difference in the "to make" list!

I love the end result! I would probably not do well sewing and cooking at the same time either but a great idea of at least 10 min. a day for sewing.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I'd just skip the cooking and sew! :0)
ReplyDeleteBeen there, done that, except mine was meatloaf. I remember that day well, decided the time shouldn't be while I'm cooking dinner. Perhaps one wash cycle instead? Like you, my 10 minutes always tend to become extended. I can't even find stuff to just "sew" for 10 minutes!
ReplyDeleteDo love your blocks, can't wait to see the finished quilt!
I am sorry....I chuckled ...... love your quilt
ReplyDeleteI once put my machine on my kitchen counter and would sew for a few minutes each day...and I met my deadline!!! It is a great idea...but then I had to move it because it was in everyone's way.
ReplyDeleteLove your piece...so pretty.

Those colors are just great, but I'm sorry about the dinner. I've been guilty of swc (sewing while cooking) too!
ReplyDeleteI have burnt so many things while sidetracked. I need a loud timer to get my attention.
ReplyDeleteI have no concept of 10 minutes. I do like the idea of sewing just 10-15 minutes a day.
ReplyDeleteI let bread rise right over the top of the bowl and onto the countertop once while I took "10 minutes" to sew--and completely forgot I was baking bread. Now I sew between exercise sets: it keeps me honest on the exercises and is a reward for doing the healthy thing.
ReplyDeleteONce I start, it's hard to stop! I say order out! This is turning out so pretty! I love it!
ReplyDeleteGlad I'm not the only one. I'm notorious for putting the kettle on the stove to make tea, then getting distracted and forgetting it. Love your blocks!
ReplyDeleteNow that sounds like something I'd do. So instead, I have DH cook. His repertoire is limited, but we don't go hungry and I get to quilt so it's a win-win situation for me.
