Seriously?

Just how smart are the robots anyway?  I mean, seriously, how is a human supposed to decipher this secret code?  At the beginning of the year, when Blogger first changed their word verification system, I figured that I would battle the spam on my own.  It was my opinion that it would be better for me to be annoyed by a bit of spam than to annoy the people who were trying to comment on my blog with impossible to read word verification codes.  I did have to disallow anonymous comments to completely block the spammers, but since then I have not had a single spam message.  It was well worth the trade off!

  1. It is a challenge sometimes but after watching this videohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQl6jUjFjp4&feature=player_embedded
I now feel like I'm helping "translate the internet"

  3. I have to agree...the word verification thing has just gotten stupid! I took mine off a long time ago.

  4. I agree they have gone too far this time. Sometimes it takes 3 tries, sometimes I give up.

  5. I have figured out that you do not need to type the numbers - just the letters (which are tough enough sometimes)!!! I wish everyone would get rid of them as sometimes I just do not have the time and do not leave a comment at all.

  6. Amen and Amen. When my first and second attempts fail, the result is no comment on that post.

Very sad for the bloggers -- and hard on the rest of us.

  8. Its ridiculous isn't it Susan, and you're right its a pain in the preverbile to have to decipher it.

  9. I have to agree and am going to do the same...I have been hesitant but it has gotten way too hard for people to leave comments...and we are all busy enough let alone struggle with verification codes..hugs Khris

  10. For anyone wanting to turn it off, read this blog and try her suggestions:

I think the WV is awful and any WV seems often to keep legit people from commenting. Any spam I have ever gotten, Blogger's spam catcher has caught, so far at least.

  11. I took the word verification off too. Blogger spam has been catching them, haven't tried blocking anonymous comments. Sounds like a good idea. Most people that comment are people with blog accounts.
