Buttons

Who doesn't love sorting through an old jar or box of buttons? My daughter-in-law spied a jar of buttons when we were going through a few of Aunt Hazel's things last week. She emptied the jar out to see the assortment and you will never believe what else was inside...my husband's grandmother's wedding ring! It will remain a mystery as to why the ring was in the button jar, but we are so happy that it was found.

  4. Oh...that is very special to come across that in such a way as this. I know you will treasure it always and be sure to write the story down of how you found it......that is something that will be appreciated by future generations. (I might consider putting it in some kind of display...shadow box, or whatever...with a card telling about how you found it in that button jar!)

  6. Amazing! What a treasure! Don't you wish you knew the whole story? I'm sure you'll spend many hours writing scripts...of what might have happened to put that ring in the jar! A hug from the past, for certain!

  7. What a neat find!! I always loved my mother's button jar and now I have one of my own. Buttons were just like a pirates pieces of eight to me when I was a girl. That jar kept me busy for hours and hours. I still love buttons and could spend hours looking at them.

  12. What an amazing find! I have both my mother's and my grandmother's button collections, and there were all sorts of little extra doodads in both containers. But nothing like that! What a treasure . . .

  13. What an amazing find. Who knows how it got there, but it's fun to think about the why's and where-fore's. I took my ring off the other day in the sewing room because it was bothering me as I was maneuvering some fabric doing the blanket stitch. I could easily misplace it, and that is what probablyl happened with Grandma's ring too. I wonder how long she looked, and wondered about that ring. What an interesting story.
